If you are like me, you hate being scammed. You would like to know what is and what isn’t real/true. In no particular order here are some sites to use when trying to determine what’s real and what’s fake.

OK, having said that, I joined: http://www.bigcoop.com/TK319600 because I shop online and I like receiving a rebate. This site also promises a $5 credit once you complete registration. Once I completed my registration, I clicked into the member area to see if the $5 was there. It was.
If you are like me and want to receive rebates from over 700 merchants, click on the above link and join. It is free. You never have to buy anything and you WILL NOT suffer any pecuniary damage.
[Side note: On one of the registration pages they asked for my social security account number. I DID NOT enter it and the registration went through without it. I would advise, should you join and they ask for it, do as I did and DON’T provide it.]
This is an online shopping site. There are 100’s more. The difference between bigcoop and the others, as best as I can determine, is bigcoop does not require a paid monthly membership to receive the maximum rebates.
Check it out for yourself. If you agree with me, join. If not, don’t. Everyone in the world is eligible to join from what I read on their site.

This is not a newsletter of programs to join. However, I reserve the right to recommend those I believe are reputable. And, I will recommend them as long as I am convinced NO ONE can suffer any pecuniary damage.

I am still toying with the advertising page. The price is the same, $2 per month or $20 for a full year. I don’t know what sort of design, if any, I want. I’m leaning towards a classified page look.
For those who said they would participate, I still have your emails and will be in touch when my feeble mind finally flops on what I want.
For those who haven’t made up their mind, here’s a point to keep in mind: Your ad will be seen by a highly targeted audience with the page in the masthead of every edition of this newsletter.
Anyway, I’ll do some more pondering and have a definite word on June 15th.

If you have an article you wish published, send it along. This, after all, is your newsletter.

The address for the update page is: http://www.senior2senior.org/update.html I will no longer be sending updates by email. Instead, they will be posted to this page. But you already knew that given I mentioned it in the last issue.

The benefits of exercise
Everyone knows, or should know by now, the valuable benefits to a healthier lifestyle. But, in case you aren’t aware of them I have listed just a few for you to consider before you begin your training. Simply thinking about physical activity can be either motivating or not depending on your personal outlook. If you believe in what Mark Twain said about exercise then you are reading the wrong section of this newsletter. He said, to paraphrase, that when the urge to exercise hits him he lays down until it passes. There is a time to rest but there is also a time to hit it hard in the gym or outdoors.
The many benefits of exercise are as follows:
• Increased endurance, power and strength all translate into more available energy for the day
• It leads to stronger muscles and improvements in coordination, which translates into better sport performance and easier accomplishments of daily activity
• More useable strength means you may be able to ‘catch yourself’ if your trip and begin to fall thus avoiding a potential injury
• Increased strength builds lean muscle mass which helps prevent injuries as less stress is imposed on the supporting joints of the body due to the lower more functional weight
• Improvements are seen in the digestion and elimination processes
• Stress is decreased because you are doing something for yourself
• Lower Blood Pressure readings in many cases which may lead to lower incidence of heart disease, stroke and kidney problems
• Increased pain killing endorphins commonly referred to as the ‘runners and squat high’
• Improved intellectual capabilities and increased mental productivity as it gives your brain a reprieve.
• Exercise helps you to develop better sleep patterns and improves your quality of sleep
• Increased lean muscle mass decreases your body fat inventory
• Lean muscle tissue burns more calories than fat tissue.
• For each pound of muscle your body burns approximately fifty more calories per day which is easier than running in the park for a half an hour each day
• Your basic metabolism is higher with more lean muscle mass leading to better weight control
• Bone mineral density is increased with higher impact exercises which translates to stronger bones
• Mood swings are decreased or brought more under control as you are active in a productive manner
• Improved muscle tonicity increases your muscle definition which in turn makes you look and feel better
• Maximum benefits to your health result from a small amount of time.
• It improves your posture by strengthening your abdominals and lower back muscles
• Keeping active keeps your body and mind alive
