My surgery was done on July 12th and I survived. Yeay, for me. The recuperation process is another story but it too is on schedule. Little did I know how relevant last issue's article would be to my recuperation.
If you remember, the article talked about the lengthy insert big pharma is required to place into the package of each drug sold. Well, as it turns out, the blood pressure medicine I was prescribed, caused a dry cough.
Believe me when I say the resultant pain in the chest right behind the "zipper" is enough to make you think twice. Fortunately the doc said to quit taking it. On the other hand, the cough hasn't completely disappeared. If it ain't one thing, it's another...
My new heart valve is a cow valve and of the 2 new artery bypasses one came from my leg while the other from the under wall of the chest cavity on the right side. I was assured by the medical staff I would not start mooing anytime soon <g>.

900 A Month Business ANYONE Can Start
Here's a great success story:
Debbie McDonald took one idea and turned it into a part time business that has allowed her to quit a second job that she absolutely hated.
My friend James Jones interviewed Debbie about her business. You can listen in at this link:

Aspartame is marketed as an artificial sweetener. Please visit: http://www.dorway.com and learn about its true nature. If you use it on fire ants, please let me know if it works.

I try to include fiber with my daily breakfast simply because I know fiber is good for me. What I didn't kow was eating fiber early in the day helps prevent spikes in blood sugar (glucose) that can damage arteries and increase the risk for fatty buildup and heart disease.

Before I forget, let me thank everyone who wished me well before I went into surgery. I know your prayers and well wishes are one of the reasons I made it through with no complications and am recuperating faster than normal.
Thank you.

2. Article
I think I will use this space to pass along my hospital experience. I realize you proably have your own and could fill my ear but what the heck, I'll still tell you mine.
The procedure was done at St. Mary's Regional Hospital on the outskirts of downtown Reno and as the name implies is affiliated with a particular religion. I was on unit called the telemetry unit after surgery.
Everyone on this ward wore a device that sent our vital signs to our particular computer at the main desk through telemetry signals. We were monitored every which way or so it seems.
One of the areas from a which a vein was harvested was my upper right leg. Whoever closed this area after surgery didn't do the best job as it seeped for five straight days.
Yes, it was bandaged but the bandage could hold only so much fluid meaning the excess had to go somewhere. That somewhere was the butt pad placed on the bed over the bottom sheet.
Mind you, staff would dutifully change the bandage but had to be asked to change the butt pad. It wasn't like the damned pad was hidden. Hell, the leg was on top of it and they could see the overflow. Geesh...
The food was every bit as bad as the stories and jokes you hear about hospital food. Salt was a big no-no but the morning eggs were always so salty they could have been used a salt lick for cattle.
The roast beef, meat loaf and everything else never had any taste. Period. I don't care how much mustard, mayonaisse or dressing I slopped on. Thank God for the fruit, rolls, and crackers.
The ole boy across the hall was in bad shape. He had one hell of a cough and God knows what else. One of the day nurses looked at his chart and thought it was mine. If I hadn't been on the ball, I don't know what would have happened. This poor chap passed away the day I was discharged.
I hope you know your insurance coverage inside and out because when it comes time to pony up the payment you probably will be overcharged. This particular outfit is famous for that.
My policy is a discount agreement in which each party's financial obligation is laid out very specifically. However, this doesn't bother this hospital, they still bill you full bore.
My son spent time in their ER several years ago after snowboarding into a tree. Not only did we get a bill but a threatening collection letter. Fortunately a phone call to our carrier straightened out this mess quickly.
I can't wait to see what I'll get this time.
Enough about me. Have a great day.
Until next issue,
Tom Koziol
