I added two sites to the caregiver manual update pages. They are the alternative medicine sites:

American College for Advancement in Medicine – http://www.acam.org  and
American Association of Naturopathic Physicians – http://www.naturopathic.org

I believe their information is universal.

Malware is something we all face if we own a computer. I am always on the lookout for a site that will truly perform a FREE malware test and remove said same garbage after they tell me what they found and do it for no charge.

http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan is such a site.

If you are like me and don’t want to pay about $1.25 for a 411 call but need to know a telephone number, call 1-800-373-3411, listen to the 10 second ad and get your number.

Having trouble finding that particular 800 number? Not anymore, simply visit:

Do you have high cholesterol? I do. I’ve been looking at serrapeptase and arjuna as possible LDL destroyers. It is too early to say anything as I’ve only started using them but in about a month, I’ll tell you if I’ve lowered the LDL and raised the HDL.

My blood pressure used to be 187 over 110 or thereabouts. I’ve managed to lower it to 150 over 110 by changing my diet. I’ve excluded refined sugar products like, cookies, candies and cakes and upped the fiber and wheat germ intake.

I am also drinking a special tea made from a particular tree bark. Phew, is it ever strong. I dilute it with lime or a lemonade/mango drink I buy at the grocery store.

I drink 2 glasses a day and noticed my heartburn is gone and my blood pressure is, at the least, not rising. My wife experiences migraine headaches more often than either of us likes and the other day another one was about to grab hold and kick her a**.

I happened to be sipping on my tea and told her to drink as much as she could stand. Three drinks later she told me how bad it tastes and something even better.

She said it had stopped the damned gremlin in its tracks and eliminated the “I am going to barf” trigger that immediately follows the punch in the head that alerts her to the impending migraine. In other words, no migraine, no barfing and no day in bed hidden under the blanket.

Please do not misconstrue any of the above as medical advice. It is simply information on what I have been doing to keep the foot on the banana peel from joining the other foot. The story about my wife is a side bar but a side bar worth noting.

It seems if you are taking diuretics like bumex and lasix or are taking fosamax you could be depleting your body’s calcium. To give the calcium a fighting chance, you may want to increase your dairy intake as well as eating more broccoli, Chinese cabbage and kale.

I seem to be on a kinda sorta medical theme so let’s continue with it. A deficit in lycopene, according to the Harvard School of Public Health, seems the strongest reason for prostate cancer.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (1/04) reports high levels of lycopene appears to be of utmost benefit to women’s hearts. One could say it is an equal opportunity health booster.

Sources of lycopene include tomatoes, apricots, pink grapefruit, guavas, papayas and watermelon. If you can’t make a fruit salad with these items, well, you may not deserve having lycopene.<g>

Water is more than just drinkable. It makes a great exercise area. Why? Because it offers 12 to 14 times more resistance than air to every move you make.

Water is said to build strength and endurance, improve flexibility and balance, increase circulation, control weight, enhance your physique and relieve tension and stress.

Yes, I know, I don’t have a back yard pool either but our community does offer a public swimming pool and several local health clubs have pools. It all boils down to ease of attainment. If you have ready access to a pool, take advantage of it.

I don’t care where you live on this planet, you have to read:

http://www.mercola.com/2000/may/21/research_and_drugs.htm

Mind you, it is only the tip of the iceberg as far as an exposé, but at least it hasn’t been censored (yet).

Until next issue,

Tom Koziol
