I am sitting here wondering what happened to 2007. We have only one month remaining this year. Wow...

I came across a free...

investment course. It is offered by Rutgers University and is aimed at people who are not sophisticated investors. Go to:

http://www.investing.rutgers.edu

and check it out. Heck, it's free and just may answer a question or two you might have.

With gas prices...

seemingly rising every day, I'm not sure the old saw about not buying gas on Saturday is still true. Saturday used to be the day the gas gods raised their price. If anyone has experienced Saturday as still being the day, I'd love to hear about it.

Direct mail seems...

to fill our mail box with a lot of useless offers. I guess that's why it is called junk mail. Interestingly though, one local pizza shop keeps mailing to us as if we were newcomers to the area. Mind you, we like pizza so we always take advantage of their special offer mailings.

This brought up a thought. Before you throw away all of that type of mail, scan it. You just may find a new oil change facility has opened near you and they mailed you a deep discount coupon as a means of generating traffic into their shop.

Maybe the local restaurant sent you a two for one coupon or a buy one meal and get the second at half price offer. If you like the restaurant, you just saved a couple of dollars.

I'm not a junk mail advocate by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, I've become a mail translator. If the offer will translate into a savings, I'll use it.

Something to think about.

This is good...

for one day only - Dec 9th. It is a 20% discount coupon at JC Penney's.

If you can use it, you just saved some money.

A reminder...

visit: http://smartmoneyconnection.com. It is my latest blog and is centered on financial topics. Sometimes my political side gets the best of me and I have a word or two to say in that field.

Until next issue,

Tom Koziol
