A friend sent me...

this address:

The people who put this together should be awarded some kind of prize.

Did you know the...

pomegranate is full of vitamin C and pwerful phytonutrients? It has also shown an ability to slow cancer growth in lab experiments and is under study for protective effects on the brain and heart and its antimicrobial properties.

I might just start drinking pomegranate juice on a daily basis.

Urinary tract infections...

are not pleasant to experience. They are more common in women than men according to scientific research but you really don't care about that statistic if you get one.

To reduce your risk it is suggested you eat a well balanced diet to keep your immune system strong, drink plenty of water and urinate promplty when the urge arises. You also should add Mr. Cranberry to the mix.

It seems cranberry components keep bacteria from forming hard to dislodge colonies called biofilms. Cranberries also force the elimination, and not the killing, of UTI causing bacteria. You can take the cranberries fresh, dried or canned plus you can drink two glasses of cranberry juice daily.

A note of caution. Some cranberry juice drinks contain so much sugar they render the cranberry useless. Read the label and if the sugar content is high, look for another cranberry product.

Vitamins C & E...

have been linked to reduced rates of kidney cancer. These two vitamins are not only antioxidants but may just be cancer fighters. I love it. Reducing or eliminating big pharma from our daily intake can only be a blessing.

I made this post...

It is no surprise we are rapidly approaching gift giving season. One of the biggest retailers in the world in fact opened gift season on November 2nd. Geesh..

With that aside, if you are a participant in the seasonal ritual you may have gift cards or gift certificates on your “give” list. You should know some people object to cards and/or certificates as gifts.

Take Miss Manners for example. She dismisses gift certificates and gift cards as “a pathetic compromise convenient to people who do not trust their judgment about selecting the right present for those whose tastes they ought to know.” Wow, that’s pretty harsh.

Of course, she is above those of us residing in the mainstream. Down here, a gift card gives us the freedom to buy what we want or as close to it as possible. Heck, it may even be from a store we don’t ordinarily patronize because their prices are above our spending range.

Obviously I disagree with MM and think I’m a little more open minded. What is your position?

on my blog at http://smartmoneyconnection.com on Nov 13th given Christmas is just around the corner. I don't know about you, but I like the idea of a gift certificate or gift card because it lets me select what I want rather than getting a tie, sweater, calendar or some other item I may not care for.

Like I asked in the blog, what is your position?

Until next issue,

Tom Koziol
