Let's open with...
healthier alternatives. It is my opinion our children and some adults drink far too many carbonated beverages. Some people call them soda, some call them pop. Regardless of what they are called, the research I read doesn't list any positives to drinking them.
Given that is true, I propose healthy alternatives. For example, put a cup or a 1/2 cup of strawberries, fresh or frozen, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, honey to taste, 1 tsp vanilla/walnut/cherry (whatever you like) and a dab of nutmeg into a blender. Blend well and drink.
Now if I can think of this kind of stuff, can't moms and dads with kids? I make a banana and strawberry shake with wheat germ and flax seed and peach slices mixed with my favorite juice instead of opening a can of soda.
So I don't sound like a lecturer, I'll leave it there and let you take and run with it in the manner you see fit.
I just updated...

If you live in the U.S....
and are being pestered by debt collectors, call Attorney Larry Smith. No, I'm not joking. He will do a free case review and generally doesn't charge you, the client, a dime to take your case to court.
He gets paid from the collection agency. It is written into the law that the offending collection agency is responsible to pay attorney fees. Here is how to contact him:
Larry P. Smith & Associates, Ltd.
205 N. Michigan Ave., 40th Floor
Chicago, IL 60601
Ph. (312) 222-9028
Fax (312) 602-3911
e-mail: lsmith@lpsmithlaw.com
I normailly don't flat out recommend anyone but Larry is an exception. I met him through my oldest son. So I don't sound like a one man ad I'll stop here. BTW, I don't get paid a dime if you contact him. He handles cases all over the country so it makes no difference where you live.
I didn't know...
smoking can increase your chances of developing glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration until I read it in a pamphlet I found at my parmacy. Something to think about for us old goats, right?
Let's close with...
healthier alternatives. Many companies now offer fruit, iced tea, or lemonade flavoring packets that you can add to your bottled water. These are also great to have when you are at a restaurant. You can generally order ice water for free. Just add the flavoring for a very cheap alternative to soda.
Until next issue,
Tom Koziol
