I read an interesting...
bit of information. The author claims aluminum may play a major role in most of the neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) and possibly other degenerative diseases.
If you or a loved one have any of these diseases or are in the early stages, this may be information that could possibly help. Hopefully your doctor has already touched on the subject. If not, it certainly wouldn't hurt to speak with him or her about it.
Speaking of diseases...
here is another one we oldies but goodies need to keep in mind. Glaucoma results from too much fluid pressure inside the eye. It can lead to vision loss and blindness.
That's right, glaucoma. Don't treat it and you won't see.
Since I am on a disease roll...
here is one that zaps us on a regular basis. It is ever threatening age-related macular degeneration. This puppy is the deterioration of the center of the eye where the millions of cells that are sensitive to light are located.
Over time, age-related macular degeneration can ruin sharp vision needed to see objects clearly and to do common tasks like driving and reading. If you are squinting or holding the paper at arm's length, you may be a victim.
One of the obvious answers is to go to your eye doctor. It is reported these diseases can be remedied if caught early enough.
If you have been...
with me for very long, you know I don't always write about diseases, cures or sickness. This is a topic varied newsletter that tries to include topics and information relevant to our age bracket.
As I say above, if you have anything you'd like to contribute, I am more than happy to look it over for possible inclusion. I don't have the information market cornered by any stretch of the imagination.
A note for people...
who live in the U.S. and are looking for a good health plan from a reputable company. My son and I co-own an insurance agency and just added Aetna to our portfolio of companies. We actually have three health companies. Aetna is a long time player in the field and offers some very good programs at very good prices.
No, you don't have to order from me and yes, this sounds like a commercial but I know people sometimes can't tell the wheat from the chaff in this arena so I thought I'd give you my 2˘.
Until next issue,
Tom Koziol
