My son officially becomes...

a college graduate on May 17, 2008. To say his mom and I are proud would be true. I thought I'd take a moment to publicly congratulate him.

Eating well is vital...

at any age, but as you get older, your daily food choices can make an important difference in your health. To help people make sensible and correct choices, NIH has a page titled:

Eating Well As You Get Older

It is at:

http://nihseniorhealth.gov/eatingwellasyougetolder/toc.html

They have some pretty good tips.

If you are a diabetic...

and are taking rosiglitazone (Avandia) or pioglitazone (Actos), you approximately double or triple your odds of hip and other non-spine fractures. This is according to a report in the April 28 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

I don't know about you, but that is some serious information. I see this stuff advertised on TV but don't hear that particular disclaimer.

The Medicare program is...

administerd by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Their website is at:

http://www.cms.hhs.gov/

It is fairly cluttered but if you are persistent you can eventually find the answer to your questions.

Here's a twist you...

might not know or even appreciate. According to the World Bank, more than 100 million people are confronting severe hunger while some of the world's biggest food companies are recording huge profits. Look it up and you'll see Monsanto doubled its profits over last year's same quarter profit. I could go on but why? It speaks for itself.

This according to U.S. News & World Report...

People who own emerald green automobiles have the most positive attitude about the course of their own lives. On the other end of the spectrum people who drive black cars, supposedly a sign of power and elegance, are the most downbeat drivers of all.

Personally, I wouldn't trade my car based on the above <LOL>.

Until next issue,

Tom Koziol
